Ruth A. (Urda) Gatehouse

Ruth A. (Urda) Gatehouse, 88, formerly of Baden, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2022, at Country Meadows of Wyomissing, PA, where she resided for the past three years.

Ruth was the widow of the late Eugene Gatehouse, who passed away in 2006, and with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage. She was born March 5, 1934, in Baden, where she lived for 85 years before relocating to Country Meadows. She was the daughter of the late George and Nellie Urda.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Mary McMahon.

She was a 1952 graduate of Ambridge High School. Ruth was first employed at National Electric in Ambridge in the 1950's, where she and Gene first met. She then worked at JC Penney in Baden, and later for many years at Giant Eagle in Rochester, retiring in 2015. She was a member of the Baden United Methodist Church. Ruth loved baking, knitting, needlepoint, and woodworking, enjoyed volunteering at local food banks, and never missed any of her sons' baseball games.

She is survived by sons, Robert and wife Lynn of Pleasanton, CA, and John ("Jack") and wife Sonya of Sinking Spring, PA; grandchildren Stephen and wife Tiffany, Christopher and girlfriend Sarah, all of CA, Sarah and Jacob, both of Sinking Spring; great-grandchildren Logan and Carly, both of CA; sister Sandi Miguel and husband Tom of MD, and numerous loving nephews, nieces and friends, especially her best friend and guardian angel Ruthie Mattie of Baden.

Ruth was also blessed with additional guardian angels who kept an eye on her following Gene's death. The family wishes to extend our utmost appreciation to Ruthie, niece Dana Yant, nephew Dale Gatehouse, family friend Laurie Sutton, and the staff at Country Meadows.

Burial will be private. A Celebration of Life service for Ruth will be held later.
