In spite of the valiant efforts of medical personnel, Ted passed January 20, 2023. He sustained cardiac damage because of Covid in May 2022.
Survived by his wife of 67 years, Cecilia (Cil) Sarnacki Schmidt; their son Kevin Schmidt, CA; granddaughters, Beth (Jeff) Pettit, MD and Peyton Kennedy, Ambridge; two brothers, William Schmidt, Harmony Township, and Frederick (Diane) Schmidt, Independence Township and many special and caring nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews; son-in-law Steven Kutzko MD.; brothers-in-law, Joseph Sarnacki, Michigan, and Eugene Sarnacki, Baden; sisters-in-law, Theresa Gatehouse, Baden, and Marie Sass, Ambridge.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna Rehm Schmidt; daughter, Lori Schmidt Kutzko (2010) MD 51 years; son, Todd Schmidt (2018) Baden, 53 years, and grandson Adam Kutzko (2021) MD, 38 years. Also, three brothers, Matthew, John, and Henry Schmidt, PA; six sisters, Annie Romanski, Marion Battaline, Theresa Schmidt, Helen Brown and Betty Wassler.
Born July 15,1933, he graduated from AAHS-Class of 1953. Ted enjoyed sports, playing football in Jr. High, then excelling in gymnastics. After returning home from England, serving with the U.S. Army and getting married, he decided to continue his interest in sports by joining the Ambridge District Sportsmen's Assoc. He had an interest in Target Archery, which he quickly mastered. He served as President of Ohio Valley Archers a few years and on the Board of Directors for many years.
Prior to retiring from Col-Fin, he also worked at Wyckoff, Byres, and J&L.
