James Key

July 1, 1952 — December 16, 2020

Ambridge

James Edward Key "Jim", 68, of Ambridge, PA departed his wonderful life following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.
James was born July 1, 1952 in Rochester, PA, to the late Mr. Julius and Vera Mae Key, and grew up in Aliquippa, PA. He was also preceded in death by his brother Julius Key, Jr., and two sisters Linda Key and Gwendolyn Bates.
James was educated in the Aliquippa school district and is also a U.S. Army veteran. He started working at age thirteen and worked until he retired from Elderberry Court as a cook in 2020. Some of his former employers include Armco, Bunchers, and Maple Restaurant.
Jim was loved by many, many people. He was a happy, caring, proud and respectful man who enjoyed life. He loved his family more than any words could ever express. Friends and family are left with so many beautiful and fun memories that will forever be cherished by those that he's touched. He loved everything Pittsburgh, including the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates. Known to his grandchildren as "G-Pop", every Steelers game up to his passing was enjoyed with his grandsons rooting for the team he loved so much. "G-Pop's" love for Pittsburgh and the Steelers could only be matched by his love for life, his family and Star Trek of course.
James leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving companion and wife of thirty-four years Roberta Edmonds, two sons, James Edmonds, JR. (Iris Rivera), Holiday, FL. and Jason Key (Alisha Key), Coraopolis, PA.; four daughters, Tiffani Edmonds and Jasmine Key, Ambridge, PA., Chavon Barnett, Holiday, FL., and Celeste Key, Springfield, MA; one granddaughter, Alontae Edmonds, and eleven grandsons, Daschon, Daiquon, and Davon Alston, Tevin "TJ" and Isaiah Edmonds, Isaiah Key, Tevaughn Barnett, K'laudjze Key, Marcus Miller, Khaliek Smith, and Jeremiah Manning; brother Elliot Key, Aliquippa, PA and sister Betty Jane Thompson, Steubenville, OH., many nieces and nephews, ten sister-in-law's, and two brother-in-law's.
Rest in heaven "Jim, G-Pop". We will forever love and miss you.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to CORLESS-MATTER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, LLC, 1133 Church Street, Ambridge, www.corlessmatterfuneralhome.com.
